How To Style Bloomers

How To Style Bloomers

We have a soft spot for chaotic summer dressing—from the juxtaposition of milkmaid dresses with silver dad sneakers, to our most well-worn denim cutoffs with the bedazzled seams. Last summer's trend cycle was defined by unexpected gym class attire and the not-so-humble micro bloomer. It's yet another thread in the underwear-as-outerwear trend, which first emerged in early 2023 and brought a sea of sheer, ruffled fabrics and '90s-inspired slips to our collective wardrobes. From maximalist ruffled variations to simple linen pairs, this period piece is making a comeback once more this summer.

1. Sleeping Beauty

Channel the glamour of a luxury pajama set—but this time around, you're wearing it out of the house. A muted palette keeps this look from blending together, as shades of slate and sage define the fabric's soft, draping texture. When recreating this look from your wardrobe, we recommend selecting fabrics with similar tones.

2. Ruffles Galore

The more the better, this minimalist philosophy is especially true for our summer wardrobes. Add a sweet element with layers of luxurious ruffles, cascading lace, and fluffy, lightweight blouses. To keep things fresh, pair them with a pair of buckled boots with rough edges to contrast the sweet, fluffy feel.

3. Embroidered Florals

We've seen countless iterations of the classic white bloomers on social media. Revisit the trend for 2025 by pairing it with unique embroidery against the pure white fabric. Top off the crisp look with a sweet mint green tote.

4. Chic Capris

We're in it for the long haul: For a more low-key approach (that's also office-appropriate), consider a lightweight pair of capri-length bloomers. These breezy, loungewear-inspired pants are unique enough on their own and explore the trend without treading too far into cutesy territory.

5. Skort 'n Sweet.

Still undecided? Layer a wrap skirt over bloomers—we think it's the best of both worlds. Pair these ruffled bloomers with a mini tote in a similar texture.

6. Sporty Shorts

For those who don’t like ruffles and lace, we recommend a trendsetting piece. Inspired by the boxer shorts popular in previous summers, it incorporates the fashion-forward silhouette of the bubble skirt that was popular last year. This combination of sporty style and sexy hotness perfectly interprets the best fashion trends in recent years.

7. Peekaboo Lace

You know the drill: Faded graphic tees add a cool-girl edge to any outfit, especially when paired with ultra-feminine lace shorts. To round out the look, slip into a pair of powdery blue stockings for a lightweight wash of color.

8. Casual Outlook

Ruffled shorts feel inherently dressy, but you can keep things unfussy with a few low-lift summer staples. An oversized lounge jacket and tall boots are key here — these pieces play up the proportion (and visual interest!) while still keeping the focus on the bloomers.

9. Cherry Gingham

Nothing says summer more than classic plaid, especially when it’s in a vibrant red hue. Wear it with a printed vest, matching hair accessories, and a pair of simple yet streamlined boots for all of summer’s exciting music festivals and picnics.

10. Matching Set

This ultra-sweet summer piece is even better as a matching set. Pair a voluminous babydoll top with matching shorts, then accentuate the contrast with a pair of well-worn moto boots and peek-a-boo knit stockings.
